For the nation’s 8.8 million green card holders eligible for U.S. citizenship, now there is one more reason to take the step toward naturalization – the application is about to get significantly longer.
United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced today that the 10-page Form N-400, Application for Naturalization, will double in length due to additional questions stemming from laws enacted since the previous version. See the new 21-page form on the USCIS N-400 page.
Fortunately, the basic requirements to become a naturalized citizen have not changed. And the benefits of becoming U.S. citizen are as great as ever.
If you are currently a permanent resident (green card holder), you can easily determine your eligibility for U.S. citizenship by taking the N-400 eligibility quiz at CitizenPath. If eligible, you’ll find CitizenPath to be the easiest and fastest way to complete the application.
Try it today – you have until May 5, 2014, to use the current version of the form.
